Six months of rain and constant coastal humidity are hard on interiors. We use BWP-grade (boiling-water-proof) plywood in wet areas, fully sealed edge-banding so moisture can't reach the core, and rust-resistant hinges and channels. It adds a little to the cost and saves a great deal five years in.
